1. U-16 Miss Ellstrom Elam Plus, Dave Villwock, 400 points

2. U-37 Miss Beacon Plumbing, Jean Theoret, 300

3. U-48 Miss Lakeridge Paving, David Williams, 225

4. U-9 Miss Conover Insurance, Chris Bertram, 169

DNF, U-1 Formulaboats.com, Jimmy Shane

U-9 penalized 1 lap for hitting a bouy

Villwock started in Lane 1 and Theoret was in Lane 2. But Villwock got to the first turn before everyone and easily pulled away. It became a parade from there. Bertram hopped out of the west end turn on the second lap, momentarily lost control and hit the exit bouy for a 1-lap penalty. Shane had his day end when the gearbox broke and he had to shut the boat down just 200 yards from the finish.

Heat 2B

1. U-5 Formulaboats.com, Jeff Bernard, 148.620, 400

2. U-10 Hoss Mortgage Investors, David Bryant, 147.015, 300

3. U-25 Superior Racing, Ken Muscatel, 136.796, 225

4. U-21 Meyers' Auto Tech, Brian Perkins, 116.523, 169

Bernard led this one from start to finish. He started in Lane 1 and beat everyone in and out of the west end turn. His first lap speed of 151.143 mph was the fastest of the race and set the tone for victory.

Heat 2C

No speeds available

1. U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto, Steve David, 400

2. U-13 Spirit of Detroit, J. Michael Kelly, 300

3. U-100 Mirageboats.com, Greg Hopp, 225

DNF, U-3 Hoss Mortgage/Ronald McDonald House, Jimmy King

David started in Lane 1 and beat everyone in and out of the first turn. King was right with him for the first lap. But coming down to the west turn on the second lap, King shut the boat down when an engine blew. From there, David was never threatened. The U-3 team pulled out of the race soon afterwards.

Heat 3A

1. U-5 Formulaboats.com, Jeff Bernard, 152.357, 400

2. U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto, Steve David, 151.739, 300

3. U-10 Hoss Mortgage Investors, David Bryant, 143.601, 225

4. U-25 Superior Racing, Ken Muscatel, 136.243, 169

Best race of the weekend to this point. Bernard started in Lane 1, and David was in Lane 2. Time after time, David pushed hard on Bernard's right shoulder, but the U-5 held him off on every attempt. Finally, on the last lap David let up and accepted second place.

Heat 3B

1. U-37 Miss Beacon Plumbing, Jean Theoret, 143.151, 400

2. U-9 Miss Conover Insurance, Chris Bertram, 122.433, 300

DNF, U-13 Spirit of Detroit, J. Michael Kelly

Kelly was penalized a lap when he hit Bertram as they got lined up for the start. That left things free and clear for Theoret, who easily scooted around the course unchallenged. Bertram followed behind for second. Kelly shut down the boat before the end of the first lap when the engine blew.

Heat 3C

1. U-16 Miss Ellstrom Elam Plus, Dave Villwock, 141.751, 400

2. U-100 Mirageboats.com, Greg Hopp, 139.600, 300

3. U-48 Miss Lakeridge Paving, David Williams, 129.570, 225

4. U-21 Meyers' Auto Tech, Brian Perkins, 120.928, 169

Another easy stroll for Villwock, who started in Lane 2 with Hopp in Lane 1. Villwock powered the boat to the first turn before everyone else and was gone. It became a parade after that, with the order of boats never changed.

Provisional

1. U-13 Spirit of Detroit, J. Michael Kelly, 143.678

2. U-48 Miss Lakeridge Paving, David Williams, 123.748

DNF, U-21 Meyers' Auto Tech, Brian Perkins

DNS, U-25 Superior Racing, Ken Muscatel

DNS, U-100 Mirageboats.com, Greg Hopp

Perkins jumped the gun at the start and was penalized a lap. But he never did take that extra lap and was given a Did Not Finish. With him out of the way, Kelly just coasted around the course to earn the trailer position for the final. Muscatel couldn't get his boat started from the docks, while Hopp and his team elected not to get off the trailer.
